Privacy Policy
01 Who this applies to
This policy explains how DL Consultants (“I”, “me”, “the practice”), operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], registration number [REG NUMBER], of [BUSINESS ADDRESS], Johannesburg, South Africa, collects and handles personal information. It applies to this website and to enquiries and engagements that begin here.
I aim to comply with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and — where clients or visitors are based there — with the principles of the UK/EU GDPR.
02 What I collect
- Information you give me: your name, email, company, and anything you include when you enquire, request a diagnostic, or engage the practice.
- Information about your business: publicly available web presence and materials you provide, used to produce a diagnosis.
- Technical data: basic analytics such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device type, collected to understand how the site is used.
03 How I use it
- To respond to your enquiry and decide whether to take on a diagnostic or engagement.
- To deliver, manage, and improve the work you engage me for.
- To send you information directly relevant to an active or prospective engagement.
- To meet legal, accounting, and record-keeping obligations.
I rely on your consent, the performance of a contract with you, and my legitimate interest in running the practice as the lawful bases for this processing.
04 Sharing and third parties
I don't sell or rent your personal information. I share it only with service providers that help me operate — for example email, hosting, analytics, scheduling, and CRM tools — and only to the extent they need it to provide their service. These providers are bound to protect your data and use it only on my instructions.
I may disclose information where required by law, or to establish, exercise, or defend a legal claim.
05 Where your data is held
Some of the tools I use may store data outside South Africa. Where information is transferred across borders, I take reasonable steps to ensure it remains protected to a standard consistent with this policy and applicable law.
06 How long I keep it
I keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, to maintain business records, and to meet legal obligations. When it's no longer needed, I delete or anonymise it.
07 Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask me to:
- confirm what personal information I hold about you, and get a copy;
- correct information that's inaccurate or out of date;
- delete information where there's no legal reason to keep it;
- object to or restrict certain processing, or withdraw consent.
To exercise any of these, email hello@thedlconsultants.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with South Africa's Information Regulator.
08 Security
I take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but I work to safeguard your data appropriately to its sensitivity.
09 Cookies & analytics
This site may use cookies or similar technologies to run essential functions and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect how the site works.
10 Changes
I may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above reflects the current version. Material changes will be posted here.
